The 2021 Mod Nationals held at South Georgia Motorsports Park over the Veterans’ Day weekend was one for the records books.
The Mod Nationals rolled into South Georgia Motorsports Park and the clouds rolled out, leaving mineshaft air, blue skies, and a lot of Modular Motored Mustangs and Trucks ready to put it all on the line. With track prep handled by the wizard, TJ Bailey, the track was ready to hold whatever the racers threw at it. And they had a lot! Promoter Justin Young put together the sponsors, track, dates, and resources – and it all paid off with great racing and a well-run event.
With 16 classes, there was a class for everyone. All-Blower Pro saw Samantha Moore take the win and in All-Blower Street, Randy Thomas’s 2010 Shelby GT 500 took the win from Kellen Stone’s 2014 Mustang. Modular Truck’s Johnny ‘Lightning’ Wiker hit the stripe first over Rich Parker. Open Comp had a winner on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's winner was Steven Daniel over #1 Qualifier Mel White. Sunday belonged to Bill Lee.
Heavy Street went to Low-ET and Top-Speed leader Paul Albino and his 2000 Lightning over Matt Arrow’s 2012 GT 500. In The Battle of the Underdogs, Andrew Lavender took the win.
Jason Ragan took the number 1 qualifier, Low-ET, Top Speed, and the win in Modular Outlaw. Keith Rhea took all the honors in King of the 4V Pro, while King of the 4V Street saw #1 qualifier Mike Wadsworth go all the way, beating Justin Johnson in the finals. Driver Mod Pro’s Joel Steele ran the table, taking the win over Nicholas Shortridge.
Meanwhile, Anthony Costello handled Bryant Rodgers for the win in Driver Mod Street. While Jon Lund had the #1 Qualifier, Low-ET, and Top-Speed, he didn’t have enough for Scott Hasty in 6R/10R 80 Shootout Pro. 6R/10R 80 Shootout Street’s win went to Cory Graley over Top-Speed winner Chuck Drew.
