Ordering a top-dog 2020 Shelby GT500

For fans of the pinnacle of Mustang performance, the 2020 Shelby GT500 set a new standard. Packing a 760-horsepower, supercharged Predator 5.2 engine under the hood, a 10-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the ability to plant the power, this car is crazy fast. For those who want to go even faster around corners, there is an option that puts this car on an even higher plane — the Carbon Fiber Track Package.

Having driven both versions of the car on the road course, we can tell you that, for the corner-carving set, this option is worth every penny of its $18,500 price tag. Its ability to plant all that power is uncanny thanks to the addition of 20-inch, exposed carbon-fiber wheels, Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires, an exposed carbon fiber GT4 track wing, adjustable strut top mounts, and splitter wickers. Though they don’t directly impact the performance, it also includes an exposed carbon fiber instrument panel, RECARO leather-trimmed seats, and a wheel-locking kit.

As you might imagine, getting your hands on one of these cars — even if you have the cash — can be challenging. So much so that enthusiasts call these orders the “Golden Ticket,” inspired by the tickets in the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. As such, if you are ordering one, you don’t want to make any errors or take any chances. Fortunately, YouTuber Tim Ulshafer breaks down the whole process in the video above.

We see my actual car going down the assembly line, its first start at Flat Rock, we talk train-tracking and then go to pick up my car at the dealer!
