Run to the Sun has been my favorite show now for many years. This would be the 34th installment of this fantastic event.
This show is open to all makes with a cutoff date of 1989. The event is an enthusiast's dream. With over 3,000 cars on hand, you would find everything from 50s hot rods, muscle cars, rat rods, trucks and over the top custom creations.
With a sold-out registration, I saw people offer up to $300 for a spot. Darel Clark and I took our Fox bodies.
There weren't many foxes on hand, but plenty of Ford trucks & beautiful classics to be seen.
Our favorite car had to be Gary Stewart's fastback with a modern Shelby driveline. This is our first show of the season and one we look forward to all year. You can bring your car into the show field on Wednesday and leave it until the show ends on Saturday. We usually Uber, or one of the guys takes a large enough vehicle to get around in.
The fun happens on Friday night during the Rats at the Beaver show in Murrells Inlet, SC. This show is held at the Beaver bar and a venue Mustang Week regulars know well. If you have never had the chance to see a rat rod in person and take in the craftsmanship, I strongly suggest it. The event is very laid-back, with people having a blast and enjoying a live band and you might see a burnout or two.The 2024 Run to the Sun will be held March 21-23. With everything Myrtle Beach offers, this is a must-attend classic car event.
