This year Carroll Shelby would have turned 100 years old. To celebrate a century of this legend, Shelby American is on a Centennial Tour across a variety of automotive events this year. A significant stop on this tour is at the massive Carlisle Ford Nationals held from June 2-4 at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
“The world is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the great Carroll Shelby’s birth this year,”said GaryPatterson, president of Shelby American. “The Carroll Shelby Centennial Tour will honor him at the Carlisle Ford Nationals with an amazing display of our Shelby Super Snake, Shelby Cobra roadster, and supercharged muscle trucks. Last year, over 500 Team Shelby members joined us at the event and we’re asking them to return for our two vehicle introductions planned specifically for the Carlisle Ford Nationals. It will be a memorable weekend!”
Carlisle’s annual Blue Oval extravaganza brings together more than 3,200 cars onthe National Parts Depot show field. Joining the fun this year, Shelby American is set to reveal not just one, but two limited edition vehicles during the event. On Friday, June 2, the company will introduce a Shelby car to the public for the first time onFriday, June 2 at 1 p.m. Later that day at 3 p.m., Shelby will announce a new Centennial-themed vehicle at 3 p.m.

With more than 500 Team Shelby members in attendance will enter the showin a parade and the club will gather at its hospitality area.Moreover, Gary Patterson and Shelby International Director Tracey Smith are slated to attend and participate in Ford’s Youth Initiative meant to encourage the youth to join the auto industry.
While Shelby brings some extra excitement to the event, there are other companies, like Ford Motor Company will also be on hand with displays and presentations. This year Ford’s themed displays are dedicated to the likes of its defunct Special Vehicle Team as well as the Coyote family of engines. The event isn’t just about static displays either. There are burnouts, donuts, an autocross competition, and more.
